The Zicatela Pro 2010 international surfing tournament is scheduled at Playa Zicatela in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico — known as the “Mexican pipeline”, a well-known beach break with legendary tubes and powerful waves — from July 28th through August 6 of this year (Note that an older announcement had it pegged for July 27th through August 5).
Details of the surfing event were announced in a press conference given by the president of the Asociación de Surf del Estado de Oaxaca (ASEO — the State of Oaxaca Surfing Association). The tournament hopes to attract the participation of 120 to 140 international and Mexican national surfers in the Open, Women””s and Dropknee categories.
The tournament itself will take place over 6 of the 10 days that the Zicatela Pro 2010 surf festival will last. Other events will include skateboard exhibitions, beach sports and activities and music, both live and by local and invited DJs.
