Well, in my last post I talked about my surfboarding adventures while I was in Baja, Mexico on vacation with my 4 girlfriends. We had soo much fun and plan on going back very soon.
But, let me tell you about what took place the day after we were learning how to surf. We went to another beach and were hanging out and ran into the same 3 guys from the state of Texas in the USA. Personally, I think one of my girlfriends told them we were going to be going down the road looking for different beaches. So, that’s how they were able to “bump” into us. I’m not complaining though!
Anyway, one of the guys named Joey said him and his boys were going to go Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUP) and we were all like you’re going to do what? They then explained it is a form of surfing and you stand on the board and have a paddle you use to move in the water.
So, we were totally mystified since we are from the Midwest of the United States and had not heard of it. Granted, I found out later that there are some places that do offer SUP in the Midwest But, I would not want to do it on a lake. I want to only do it on the ocean, you know what I mean?
Anyway, they offered to help us out like the other day with surfing on longboards. So, we said that would be cool and we went and all rented Stand Up Paddle Boards. They are quite big and give you a lot of support when you are using the paddle at the same time.
My girlfriends and I were able to pick up the techniques pretty quickly and when ever a little wave came our way we would scream, shot and laugh our heads off.
We actually ended up going a bit too far from the beach and were pretty far out there which started to make me a bit nervous. But, Joey and the guys along with my girls assured me we would all be fine since we were in a big group of people. So, my nerves calmed down a bit and we had a blast.
When we finally came in after being out for at least a couple of hours we had some food and some beers and had a party. We had a boom box with us and cranked the music and danced, ate, drank and had soo much fun.
Joey and his guys and me and my girls really hit it off and there were some sparks flying that’s for sure. But when your young and carefree sometimes that is ok, you know?
I’m excited to share with my my next post that is called: Overseas Adventure Travel vs Adventure Travel – What is it?
