The Copper Canyon
The Copper Canyon of the state of Chihuahua, Mexico (known as the Barrancas del Cobre in Spanish) is a spectacular system of several canyons, many of which are both wider and deeper than the Grand Canyon of the United States.
It is the territory of the Tarahumara indians (or Raramuri), who have a tremendous endurance and lung capacity from scaling the mountains and ravines of this territory.
The Copper Canyon area is accessible in great part only by means of the Chihuahua al Pacifico Railway (or El Chepe), although certain areas are accessible by paved or gravel road and via hiking trails.
