Located only about 50 miles to the south of Mexico City and some 2,000 feet lower in altitude than the nation's capital, Cuernavaca has been a special and valued place of rest and relaxation since the days of the Aztec kings and later the Spanish conquistadors and noblemen. Today it continues to be one of the favorite weekend escapes from the bustle and frenzy of Mexico City.
