Description: Maya Exploration Center is a non-profit research and education center exploring all aspects of the ancient Maya. Based in Austin, Texas and working primarily in Palenque, Chiapas, Mexico, MEC funding comes in large part through the sale of archaeologist and scholar led tours of ancient Maya ruins such as Palenque, Bonampak, Yaxchilan and others. MEC also offers study abroad programs for college level students, sponsors research and disseminates information on the ancient Maya.
