Municipal Beach & Fisherman's Walk
Zihuatanejo's main beach downtown
- a pleasant walkway with a number and good, bay-front restaurants and the town square and basketball court.
Playa Las Gatas
A beach protected by an ancient man-made reef with excellent snorkelling, accessible by boat from the Municipal Pier, or by foot via the rocks between it and Playa La Ropa
Playa La Ropa
Zihuatanejo's finest swimming beach. Lined with hotels, bungalows and seafood restaurants, La Ropa beach offers you parasailing, water skiing, snorkeling, banana boats and other water sports.
La Madera
A small beach near the downtown area - bungalows and restaurants line this small beach which is accessible from the Municipal Beach via a walkway over the rocks.
Troncones Beach
North of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo lies Troncones Beach - a newly developed getaway with miles of uncrowded white sand and surf.
Barra and Laguna de Potosí
South of Zihuatanejo, this lagoon and beach constitute a birdwatchers paradise with tours by kayak or boat. Excellent fresh seafood is available from the beachfront Enramada restaurants.
Playa Blanca and Playa Larga
Near the airport, these beaches offer miles of white sand and long stretches of solitude. A wonderful horseback riding and beach combing spot.
Ixtapa Island
The Island's 4 beaches are wonderful for snorkeling and other water sports & adventures. A number of good seafood restaurants are situated on the island Accessible via taxi boats leaving from the Playa Linda area.
Playa Linda
Playa Linda lies just north of Ixtapa. Near the pier on its southern end is an artisan's market and nature preserve with crocodiles, water birds, iguanas and turtles; northward you can find horseback riding and a good surfing break.
Playa el Palmar & Escolleras- Ixtapa
Along Playa el Palmar is Ixtapa's Hotel Row. Caution should be exercised here as surf can sometimes be large and dangerous. Playa Escolleras, near the jetty, is one of Ixtapa's surfing beaches where surfing contests are sometimes held.
Playa Majahua: A small fishing village north of Troncones with a lovely beach and out-of-the-way vacation spots.
Playa La Saladita: A longboarder's paradise, La Saladita offers long stretches of beach and one of the best left-point breaks on the coast.
