Acapulco Surf Spots

The Acapulco area has a few surfing breaks that are very popular and since Acapulco has long been one of the major tourist destinations in Mexico, it is often where surf tournaments and competitions are held in the state of Guerrero.

Playa Bonfil - here is where almost all the contests and competitions are held. A beach break with the best waves happening between November and February although there are some good swells during the summer as well when it's not too messy from the storms. Sandy bottom and fast waves. How to get there: head south toward and past the Mayan Palace toward Barra Vieja. When you reach Playamar, continue on for 2 kms and you'll be at Bonfil.

Revolcadero

A big wave but it's not always working. From November into February, March and even April, watch for the larger swells coming in from the SE and you might get lucky. Sandy bottom, rocks nearby.

Barra Vieja

Located a good driving distance to the south of Acapulco. Continue past the airport and Playa Bonfil for another couple of kilometers to get to Barra Vieja. Sandy bottomed, fast beach break with both rights and lefts.
