Surfing Las Escolleras
Located in Ixtapa, Guerrero, Mexico next to the jetty by Marina Ixtapa, Escolleras is a favorite break for the local Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo surfers. Very popular because it's so close to town (under a 5 peso bus ride from Zihuatanejo), Escolleras tends to draw large crowds of surfers, boogie boarders, swimmers and body surfers on most weekends.
The beach break is shaped by the currents that run alongside the man made entrance to the marina, allowing the hollow rights (mostly) and lefts to form. Below are some photos from Escolleras taken during one of the Karma Surfing Contests.
