Manzanillo Bay
Playa Manzanillo is a beautiful little beach between Troncones and Majagua, about a 30 minute drive north of Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa. This coarse sand beach is bounded by rocky points to the north and south. This point is dangerous to surf due to the sharp rocks and the sea urchins that thrive on them. This should not scare beginning surfers away from staying here. There are some good beach and rivermouth breaks within easy walking distance and some great breaks within a half hour by car.
The left point at Playa Manzanillo is a powerful wave with steep drops and big barrels, best surfed overhead with a south swell, as this helps the wave to break away from the rocks.
Playa Manzanillo also boasts a hollow right hand beach break and a powerful right break called the Ledge on the north end of the Bay.
Manzanillo Bay is very small, you can walk from point to point in just a few minutes. The beach has been developed over the last few years and now boasts several restaurants, small hotels and bed & breakfasts.
Board rentals and lessons are now available from the surf shop at The Inn at Manzanillo Bay.
