Surfing Troncones

Troncones is a 3+ mile long beach facing the open Pacific Ocean surf, studded with rock outcroppings and a couple of small rivers that flow in rainy season.

The point and beach breaks at Troncones can be very powerful, causing undertows and rip tides that can catch swimmers and surfers unaware and carry them out to sea.

One of the prime Troncones surfing spots is at Manzanillo Bay, towards the northern end of the community. Care should be taken here as the point is extremely rocky with plenty of sea urchins. Surfboard rentals and supplies are available at the Surf Shop at the Inn at Manzanillo Bay.

These photos were taken in front of Casa de la Tortuga but other popular surf spots include the area in front of the Burro Borracho and Puesta del Sol as well as the 'Leap of Faith' Bridge.
