The Climate of San Luis Potosi
Located in Northeastern Mexico, the state of San Luis Potosi extends through a diversity of bioregions, from the lush green and water-filled Huasteca (mean altitude 100 meters), through the Sierra Madre Oriental and the Rio Verde region (altitude of approx. 1,300 meters above sea level), to the high arid plains of the Chihuahuan Desert at some 1,400 meters in altitude.
The HUASTECA area, to the east of the Sierra Madre Oriental, has a hot, humid climate with cool nights in the upper regions.
The high interior, desert regions of the state are arid and with intense sun during the day for the most part of the year, with the typical chill of the raw desert setting in during the nighttime hours.
