SAYULITA, NAYARIT - 8 de febrero 2004.

ANA ISABEL SCALES GAYAN, (zihua) CAMPEONA NACIONAL EN SURF FEMENIL, LA UNICA COMPETIDORA DE GUERRERO QUE ASISTIRA AL MUNDIAL.
LEONEL PEREZ (zihua)CAMPEON NACIONAL EN SURF MASTER (esta categoría no compite en el mundial).
EVELYN CAMPOS (aca)TERCER LUGAR NACIONAL EN TABLA DE CUERPO FEMENIL.(Se quedo solo a un paso de poder asistir al mundial).
ESTEBAN CRUZ (aca) CUARTO LUGAR NACIONAL EN TABLA DE CUERPO JUVENIL
MANUEL RIOS DELGADO (aca) CUARTO LUGAR NACIONAL EN TABLA LARGA.(se quedo a un paso de poder ser mundialista)

Bajo un clima frió que calaba hasta los huesos, y durmiendo en casas de campaña, la selección Estatal de surfing de Guerrero, inicio su participación con optimismo y un gran animo del 5 al 8 de febrero pasado, en esta localidad Nayarita, compitiendo contra 9 estados, Baja California norte, Baja california sur, Colima, Jalisco, Michoacán, D.F., Oaxaca, Quintana roo, el anfitrión Nayarit y en 9 categorías, buscando ser seleccionados Nacionales y asistir a los JUEGOS MUNDIALES DE SURFING, a celebrarse en la ciudad de Salinas, republica del Ecuador los días del 19 al 28 de Marzo 2004.

Con olas espumosas de 3 pies los días jueves y domingo y de 5 pies el viernes y sábado, los competidores dieron su máximo esfuerzo sorteando la dificultad de esa ola, en el Campeonato Nacional de Surfing, en el que asistieron mas de 300 competidores.

Los juveniles José Manuel Trujillo, Daniel Ozuna, y Jorge Luis Cortes a un paso de llegar a la final, quedaron en semifinales.

En tabla de cuerpo femenil Annlise Fuentes, quedo en semifinales.
En tabla de cuerpo varonil Carlos Carvajal en semifinales.

ANA ISABEL SCALES GAYAN, (Zihua) National Women's Surfing Champion and only competitor from Guerrero State who will attend the World Surfing Games
LEONEL PEREZ (Zihua) National Masters Champion (this category does not compete in the World Games.).
EVELYN CAMPOS (Aca) Third place in Women's Surfing
ESTEBAN CRUZ (Aca) Fourth place in Juvenile Surfing Division
MANUEL RIOS DELGADO (Aca) Fourth place in Long Board Division
In a climate of cold that bit to the bone and sleeping only in tents, the Guerrero State selection participated with optimism and great enthusiasm from February 5th to 8th in this Nayarit locale, competing with 9 States: Baja California North, Baja california South, Colima, Jalisco, Michoacán, D.F., Oaxaca, Quintana Roo, host state Nayarit and in 9 categories, looking to be selected to the National Team and attend the WORLD SURF GAMES, to be held in the city of Salinas, Ecuador from March 19 to 28, 2004.

With messy 3 foot waves on Thursday and Sunday rising only to 5 feet on Friday and Saturday, the competitors had to put forth their greatest efforts in the difficult surf conditions for the National Surfing Championships in which more than 300 competitors were entered.

Semifinalists from the state included Juniors José Manuel Trujillo, Daniel Ozuna, and Jorge Luis Cortes, as well as Annlise Fuentes and Carlos Carvajal.
