With the participation of 192 competitors from Baja California Norte, Baja California Sur, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Colima, Tamaulipas, DF, Michoacan, Oaxaca, Quintana Roo, Jalisco and Guerrero, the 1st National Championship of the Mexican Surfing Curcuit Karma 2006 took place from September 12 through 17, 2006, with 12 categories and with Leonel Perez as the coordinator of this great event. Under truly extreme conditions the best wave riders of the country had to confront the serious dificulties of riding the waves under rain; tropical storm Lane was present during Karma 2006; by Friday the rain had ceased and we were awarded excellent waves of up to 11 feet all day long, it was truly a delight to watch the high-grade difficult manoeuvres that were watched by an enthusiastic crowd of spectators; as is the tradition, Guerrero paved the way as for the first time children of 6 to 14 years participated in a National event, hitting the waves like pros. (see results, left) This great celebration of Mexican surfing was doubly relevant for taking place on a date of great importance for all mexican, Independence Day; there was great cameraderie withing the Mexican surfing community, great fraternity among the surfers who meet in national events; the next will be held in Cancún, Quintana Roo in January 2007. ¡VIVA MÉXICO!
Playa Escolleras Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Guerrero México.- Con la participación de 192 competidores provenientes de Baja California Norte, Baja California Sur, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Colima, Tamaulipas, DF., Michoacán, Oaxaca, Quintana roo, Jalisco y Guerrero culmino con gran éxito organizativo el 1er. CAMPEONATO NACIONAL DEL CIRCUITO MEXICANO DE SURFING “KARMA” 2006, llevado a cabo del 12 al 17 de septiembre pasado, compitiendo en 12 categorías y teniendo como director del evento a Leonel Pérez coordinador de la costa grande.
En condiciones verdaderamente extremas los mejores monta olas del país tuvieron que sortear las serias dificultades de montar una ola bajo la lluvia, la tormenta tropical Lane estaba presente en el karma 2006, para él viernes la lluvia había cesado y nos regalaba excelentes olas de hasta 11 pies durante todo el día, era todo un agasajo ver las maniobras con alto grado de dificultad que realizaban soltando el alarido del publico asistente, como es tradición Guerrero da la pauta a seguir, ya que por primera ves compitieron niños de 6 a 14 años en un evento nacional, pegándole como grandes a las olas.

Esta gran fiesta del surfing Mexicano tuvo gran relevancia al celebrarse en una fecha tan importante para todos los Mexicanos, el día de la Independencia, se vivió una gran convivencia de la comunidad surfer mexicana, gran fraternidad de surfers que se ven cada ves que se realiza un evento nacional, el próximo será en Cancún Quintana Roo en el mes de enero del 2007. Agradecemos al Gobierno del estado, Secretaria de turismo, OCVZ, Gobierno Municipal de Zihuatanejo, la Iniciativa Privada, Medios de Comunicación, Competidores, Jueces, Colaboradores Leonel Pérez, Adrián Tellechea y Edoardo Iram Verboonen él haber hecho posible este gran evento que pone la pauta a seguir.
