MEXICO ANNOUNCES THE FIRST PROFESSIONAL SURFING CIRCUIT, THE AMERICAS PRO AM CUP 2008.
After a 40-year history of surfing as a sport practiced in Mexico, and the emergence of a number of surfing champions and legends in the country, THE AMERICAS PRO AM CUP 2008 was organized by a group of Mexican leaders under the direction of General Director Mario Dillanes, with the intention of bringing a professional surfing circuit event to various beaches along Mexican coastlines where good surfing conditions can commonly be found.
THE AMERICAS PRO AM CUP 2008 was born with the vision of encouraging and increasing the competitive level of surfers through a series of continuous events during the year on Mexican beaches. The series is open internationally but with a limited quota;, prizes will be awarded in cash for first places as well as performance being rated on a point system, with champions being announced at the end of each year in the categories of YOUTH SHORT BOARD( 21-years and under), LONG BOARD, WOMEN'S SHORT BOARD and the stellar OPEN SHORT BOARD .
Having THE AMERICAS PRO AM CUP 2008 circuit undertaken in Mexican territory will allow the national media to help promote and bring the sport and it's professional practitioners into general public awareness along with the attractions of Mexican beaches and destinations. The events will be undertaken in a spirit of festivity, sun, beach, bikinis, music and general entertainment for the enjoyment of all, under the motto "Let's take care of the waters of Mexico", promoting sports tourism and ecological awareness.
The 1st circuit of the AMERICAS PRO AM CUP 2008 took place in Cancun, Quintana Roo at Playa Delfines from the 18th until the 27th of January 2008.

MEXICO ANUNCIA EL PRIMER CIRCUITO PROFESIONAL DE SURFING COPA LAS AMERICAS PRO AM 2008.
Después de mas de 40 años que existe el surfing en nuestro país, y en los cuales han surgido numerosos campeones y leyendas, un grupo de lideres Mexicanos dirigidos por el Director General Mario Dillanes, estará llevando a cabo en las diferentes playas de nuestro basto territorio, que cuenta con olas de diferentes tamaños y formas, el primer circuito profesional de surfing COPA LAS AMERICAS PRO AM 2008
El primer circuito profesional COPA LAS AMERICAS PRO AM, nace con la visión de fomentar y elevar el nivel competitivo de los surfers, mediante una serie de eventos continuos durante todo el año en las playas mexicanas, la serie estará abierta para todo mundo pero teniendo un cupo limitado, se repartirán premios en efectivo entre los primeros lugares así como será puntuable y tendremos campeones del circuito al finalizar el año, las categorías que participaran son; TABLA CORTA JUVENIL (menores de 21 años), TABLA LARGA, TABLA CORTA FEMENIL, y la estelar TABLA CORTA ABIERTA .
CIRCUITO COPA LAS AMERICAS PRO AM una de las ventajas de este circuito es que se desarrollara en territorio mexicano, se tendrá difusión y proyección en los diferentes medios, para que mas y mas publico conozca nuestro deporte, nuestras playas y desde luego a los actores principales; los surfers, tener el escenario y escaparate ideal para que nuestros deportistas gocen de patrocinio, prestigio y reconocimiento, consolidar al surfing mexicano dentro de los mejores deportes preferidos, y por que no, llegar a ser el segundo deporte mas popular, al repartir premios en efectivo, les permitirá a los competidores tener estabilidad económica para poder viajar, entrenar y seguir otras competencias alrededor del mundo para pronto tener un mexicano dentro del tour mundial.
CIRCUITO COPA LAS AMERICAS PRO AM se desarrollara en un ambiente de festival, sol, playa, bikinis, música, conciertos, y entretenimiento bajo el lema “CUIDEMOS LOS MARES EN MEXICO” promoviendo el turismo deportivo y creando una conciencia ecológica de cuidar nuestras playas y su entorno.
CANCUN QUINTANA ROO tendrá el honor de abrir EL CIRCUITO PROFESIONAL DE SURFING COPA LAS AMERICAS PRO AM, playa Delfines nos espera, del 18 al 27 de enero 2008, para que sigamos escribiendo la historia.
